Should Christians compromise on Biblical truth just to placate others? What happens when one compromises truth?
Truth vs. Compromise
The very nature of compromise destroys truth for there is no such thing as half truth. Something is either a lie or the truth, no in between, no white lie. However, there are many that will tell you other wise.
In John 8:31-32, it says,
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
To know the truth we must be in God’s word. The world around us is filled with lies, and they love to sugar coat the lie it to make it palatable for one to digest. This so-called truth from the world is of Satan, the greatest speaker of untruth.
All truth comes from Jesus Christ, who is the embodiment of pure truth.
In John 1:17, it says,
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
Truth is solid and cannot be compromised; it alone will remain throughout eternity.
The Result of Compromise
If Christians do not standup for the truth, it will in time be consumed by lies, and the lie will reign as truth.
As we live and breathe, the truth must never leave us. The words we speak must continually be bathed in truth. It cannot be allowed that even one hole penetrates the truth, for this will in turn weaken truth and make it vulnerable to deception, decay and eventually crumble into dust.
In Ephesians 4:24-27, it says,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. 25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another. 26 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Being a child of God, we must speak only the truth, even if it causes us pain, in the end. There are many who are of their father Satan and will never speak the truth.
In John 8:44-46, it says,
44 “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 “But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 “Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
In Matthew 10:16, it says,
16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.
