The Simplicity of Faith

Introduction

It’s hard to see the veracity some have in pushing Faith as being a “blind leap.” This article will try to show that Faith as “concrete,” and resting in the person of Jesus Christ.

What is Faith?

Scripture holds the key to interpreting its self. Spiritual truth, opened to all believers if they take the time to read and meditate on God’s Word.

In Isaiah 1:18, it says,

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.

Our nature is entirely corrupted by sin, but the prevenient grace of God is, that He came to us first, not we to Him. The Lord is saying we must use the reasoning power that He gave us. He wants us to understand that we are sin sick, but if we obey Him, He will change our sin from scarlet to snow-white. The blind leap indicates to me that we as individuals are making the first move towards God, this is so wrong.

Reasoning with the Lord shows that He is as real as you or me. To reason with someone, both must be existing beings. Thus, the Lord is physical and spiritual even though one does not have the ability to see Him now.

God understood that man would never just accept Him without first knowing he or she is a sinner, this is why God wants to reason with us.

In Romans 10:17, it says,

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Thus, the only way to appropriate faith is to be in God’s Word daily. Feasting at this banquet table daily one will find that an individual’s faith is built on the trust one sees all the way back to the beginning of time. As one goes down that road to the beginning of creation and sees the handy work of the creator God, one can see that faith or trust or whatever one so desires to call it, rests in a real being, not some abstract person.

Therefore, the object of that faith is the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no blind leap, never was there a jump.

Brothers and sisters, we are on the verge of a great battle, and if we do not know where our faith lies, well just think of what could happen. The blind leap only leads to a jump to the Abyss of Despair. Our Faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ, a real person who has made promises in His Word to come and redeem His own.

Look at Our Parents

When our own mom and dad told us, we were their biological child, we believed and trusted them. We must also believe when God says that we are His creation.

This said it leads us to one particular point; our faith is a real person, not some blind leap. The so-called leap of faith does not know the results of this jump, but true faith knows the ending, eternal life with God and Jesus Christ.

Conclusion

Our sinful nature has entirely corrupted us, but the prevenient grace of God is, that He came to us first, not we to Him. As He said, “Come now, and let us reason together.” Thus, God opens the door ever so slightly, at this moment in time we must decide, either stay on the wrong side or run to the arms of God in repentance.

Whom do you put your faith and trust in, this jump or in the actual person of Jesus Christ?

In Romans 10:17, it says,

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

The Word of God is real, and it has stood the test of time and will remain for all eternity.

In Isaiah 40:8, it says,

8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.

Again, I ask where do you put your faith and trust, in the leap of faith or a real person. My faith and confidence is the Creator God and His Son, Jesus Christ, not some blind leap of faith. Where is yours?

About Dr. George Gallant

I have had the opportunity to work in many fields in my life, and excelled in all of them. I started as a mechanic in the Army then went to the Infantry in Vietnam. After returning to America, I worked as a mechanic for a few more years off and on until I found a position as a Dialysis Technician until I became a Chief specialist in a major Boston hospital. In 1981, I became a Police Office in a small town in Northeast Georgia and continued to work with law-enforcement for seven years. I also preached the Word of God in the Toccoa community and wished that I could have found a church that would have taken me on to preach every week. In 1993, I became a computer programmer for many years and loved that job much. In 2003, my wife came down with the worst breast cancer one could get, so I retired and took care of her until her passing in 2006. Then in 2007, I moved to China and started teaching both verbal English and American History to high-school students; this by far was the best job I ever had.
