The Pulpit is For Men

Introduction

Why are women not allowed to preach in the Church? What does the Scripture say? The question is, does the Church have a place for women to minister as teachers over men? Can a woman be a pastor or deacon?

The Overseers

The Holy Scripture gives authority to men to be a pastor/teacher in the Church. However, women have taken over this role in an overt act of disobedience to the Word of God. They have done this because of the men in the Church are lazy. Let us look at the qualification for being a Pastor/Overseer from God’s Word.

1 Timothy 3:1-3, says,

1 It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is an excellent work he desires to do.

2 An overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money (NASB).

It says nothing being the wife, of one husband, but the husband, of one wife. Many women have overstepped God’s authority with their desire to preach. One will try to say we live in a modern world today. However, the Word of God teaches something different from this philosophy these women are stating. The Word of God does not and will not change for women, it is not progressive.

Hebrews 13:8, says,

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for eternity (NASB).

Too many individuals attempt to twist the Scripture to their way of thinking today using the phrase, “that was back then.” The Word of God continues to refute this adopted philosophy of women.

1 Timothy 2:12, says,

12 But I allow no woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet (NASB).

From these words alone, women have no place teaching the Word of God to any man. They may have the ability, but not God’s authority to preach.

The Deacon

We have the same requirements for the Deacons laid out in the Holy Scriptures.

1 Timothy 3:12, says,

12 Deacons must be husbands of one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households (NASB).

It speaks once more to the fact that a man has one wife at a time; polygamy was rampant in history during this period. It is not the other way around; no woman can be a Deacon.

Many contend that women can be deaconesses. These individuals attempt to make a theological stand on one verse in Scripture.

Romans 16:1, says,

1 I commend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a servant (not a deaconess), of the church at Cenchrea (NASB).

Scholars believe this word “deaconess” translated in many versions of the Bible is wrong and the correct translation is a “servant.”

Do not underestimate the deception that comes from Satan as he will try to destroy the Church of Jesus Christ.

The Order of Authority

Ephesians 5:22-25, says,

22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the spouse, as Christ is the head of the church, He is the Savior of the body.

24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so too the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ treasured the church and gave Himself up for her (NASB).

If the wife is to be subject to her husband how can she be a pastor and leader over his authority? The husband is to love his wife; he is to enjoy her in everything as Christ loved and doted on His Church. This means the husband is to protect his wife even if it means his death. Remember that Christ died for the Church, and He is our example.

In this verse, it says the husband is to LOVE his wife, if a spouse does this, his wife will love him in return. If the husband loves his wife, and she subjects herself to him, there is harmony between them coming from God.

The Holy Scripture has set the order of authority, and NO ONE can change this, not even the Church.

Ephesians 5:22, says,

22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord (NASB).

The Church of England

An article in the New York Times showing The Church of England and their approval allowing women to become bishops is a disgrace. The Church of England has shown utter contempt once again for the Holy Scriptures. They are trying to circumvent the Holy Scripture, and this will bring disaster.

Many in the Fellowship call it, progressiveness and say we must change according to the time. They can call it whatever they wish; they have given up the truth, into a lie by their compromise. Upon returning to biblical principles, God will bless them.

A woman, in a leadership position over men in the Church, is an anti-Biblical stance, so many individuals believe acceptable, and they support this lie because of not understanding God’s Word.

The Church of England and others have circulated this lie to God’s people of women’s leadership is in the Scriptures is acceptable to rule over men. The Church of England is trying to appease the people who want a happy feeling message. People today want nothing to upset them or their way of life coming from the pulpit.

The scriptures say in the last days, they will want their ears tickled, and that is what The Church of England and many other so-called progressives are doing.

2 Timothy 4:3-4, says,

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,

4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and go to myths (NASB).

Conclusion

The Church of England is allowing women as Bishop’s violates 1Timothy 3:1-13. There is no progressiveness in scripture for it is the word of God, and the Bible teaches that Jesus is the same as He was yesterday, today and for eternity. No progressiveness, Jesus remains consistent.

No woman preacher or teacher may be over men. Thus, it is the same for women teaching in Bible colleges, for it is men who communicate the word of God. With the Word of God, a man can explain it to both male, and females. Women can teach women and children, but not to men.

Hebrews 13:8, says,

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and eternity (NASB).

The verse above is one-hundred percent biblical today as it was two thousand years ago and will never change. Others may comment, I live, in another world; this is true as I live at this moment in two worlds this earthly world and the eternal realm with my God and Lord Jesus in my spirit.

There are other mainline churches accepting homosexuals to the point of ordination as the Church of England has done. Showing the depth of depravity that has settled in the Church. Their reason is they want acceptance, but they forget what the scripture teaches in Matthew. There will be a shocking number of people the Day of Judgment who will not see their eternal hope of joy because of unconfessed sin in their lives leading to damnation.

Matthew 22:14, says,

14 God called many but chose a few (NASB).

Men cannot make scripture say what it wants for it will not stand on the Great Judgment Day. There will not be, “that is what the people wanted.”

Remember what happened to Israel when they wanted to be as other nations and have a King over them. They rejected God and suffered the consequences under this act of folly for God gave them the King they wanted. It was King Saul that left the love of God and the people suffered.

Those who believe this to be wrong then prove it from Scripture, and I will change, but until then I remain staunch in my belief in what God says with no progressiveness or deviation. My Challenge is, prove that you are correct from scriptures and that I am wrong.

About Dr. George Gallant

I have had the opportunity to work in many fields in my life, and excelled in all of them. I started as a mechanic in the Army then went to the Infantry in Vietnam. After returning to America, I worked as a mechanic for a few more years off and on until I found a position as a Dialysis Technician until I became a Chief specialist in a major Boston hospital. In 1981, I became a Police Office in a small town in Northeast Georgia and continued to work with law-enforcement for seven years. I also preached the Word of God in the Toccoa community and wished that I could have found a church that would have taken me on to preach every week. In 1993, I became a computer programmer for many years and loved that job much. In 2003, my wife came down with the worst breast cancer one could get, so I retired and took care of her until her passing in 2006. Then in 2007, I moved to China and started teaching both verbal English and American History to high-school students; this by far was the best job I ever had.
