In the affairs of history that have occurred, there are four that matter,
- Christ’s Birth
- Christ’s Death
- Christ’s Resurrection
- Christ’s Return
No other event can trump these four though many endeavors try to convince one otherwise.
God, Jesus’ Father, Mary, His human mother. The individual who accepts this as truth can understand the Divinity of Christ. Jesus was both God and man by this transcendent birth.
God told Adam and Eve that a redeemer will come and save humankind from themselves. God likewise told them this redeemer will destroy evil and Satan’s rule will end.
Genesis 3:14-15, says,
14 The LORD God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, cursed are you more than cattle, and more than every beast of the field; On your belly, you will go, and dust you will eat the rest of your life.
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel (NASB).
Isaiah the prophet foretold of this birth of Jesus over a thousand years before it happened.
Isaiah 7:14, says,
14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel (NASB).
Joseph was a good man and loved Mary, and yet because she was pregnant, he sought to release her in private. However, God spoke through an Angel to him in a dream and said this child is of The Holy Spirit do not be fearful to take her as a wife.
Matthew 1:25, says,
25 but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son, and he called His name Jesus (NASB).
Christianity’s foundation depends on the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ. Without the Virgin Birth, Christianity crumbles to dust, and this being the desire of the atheist. For without Jesus Christ as a reality, everything becomes subjective.
A friend betrayed Jesus for money, and this put Jesus Christ to death on a Roman Cross. The Son of God paid the highest price ever given to redeem humanity from the doorway to hell.
What is the standard fee for betrayal today is it, fame, fortune, glamor or is it the personal freedom to do whatever one so desire? Dear friend, none of this will bring happiness
Matthew 26:14-16, says,
14 Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 and said, “What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?” They weighed out thirty pieces of silver to him.
16 From then on, he looked for an excellent opportunity to betray Jesus (NASB).
Judas Iscariot found that the thirty pieces of silver for his betrayal of Jesus drove him to commit suicide.
Matthew 27:3-5, says,
3 Judas felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders for condemning Jesus to death,
4 saying, I have sinned by betraying innocent blood. But they said, what is that to us? See to that yourself!
5 and he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and left, and he went away and hanged himself (NASB).
Jesus’s love put Him on the cross for each of us. The Cross of Jesus Christ was the sins of humanity and nothing less. It was not just the Roman soldiers who nailed Jesus to the cross; it was the whole of humanity. Every stroke with the hammer drives further this nail into the hand of Jesus, is the sin of each person who has ever lived, and this spike was right where a major nerve is producing extreme pain. The crown of thorns pushed onto His head was each sin of humanity that drove those thorns deep into His skin. The scourging of His back ripped flesh from each lash received; this is how much Jesus loves us because He took this beating for us.
Isaiah 53:5, says,
5 However, they pierced Him through for our transgressions; crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging, He healed us (NASB).
Jesus died on the cross for humanity.
Matthew 27:46, says,
46 Around the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, Lama Sabachthani?” Meaning, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” (NASB).
Please, consider this verse for one can see that for a single moment in eternity that the God of Creation had to turn His back on His Son. God could not look upon the sin that Jesus took upon Himself so we as sinners may have forgiveness. Can one comprehend the pain that Jesus Christ went through for humanity that even His Father turned His back on Him, no we cannot?
Without Jesus’ resurrection there is no Church, and our efforts vain. However, thanks, to the God of Creation that Christ rose from the dead as the Scriptures promised.
Matthew 27:52-54, says,
52 Tombs opened, and many dead saints rose from the dead;
53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared too many.
54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him, keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things happening, became petrified and said, “This was the Son of God! (NASB).
These guards charged with the watching of Jesus stated with surety in their heart, “This was the Son of God.” The Jewish high priest tried to keep this quiet but, to no avail.
John 11:25-26, says,
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you accept it as true? (NASB).
To the one who believes that the Lord Jesus Christ is the “resurrection and the life,” then they will inherit eternal life.
Revelation 19:11-19, says,
11 I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and they call him who sat on it Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and wages war.
12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head, are many diadems, and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
13 He, clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and they call His name The Word of God.
14 And the armies in heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it, He may strike the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the winepress of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
16 On His robe and His thigh, He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to the birds which fly in mid-heaven, Come, assemble for the great supper of God.
18 So you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of men, both freemen, and slaves, and small and lofty.
19 I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army (NASB).
Revelation 14:14-16, says,
14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was, one as the son of man, having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud. “Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come because the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
16 Then He who sat on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the land reaped (NASB).
Jesus was coming to claim His Church, Hallelujah.
A simple conclusion is if one wants a part of this resurrection and eternal life, then he or she must confess their sins.
1 John 1:9, says,
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from unrighteousness (NASB).
John 3:17-18, says,
17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but He will save the world through Him.
18 God will not judge those who believe in Him; he who does not have faith in God condemned even now because he has not trusted in the name of the Son of God (NASB).
